World Book Day – Magenta’s favourites!


Today marks World Book Day – an awareness event celebrating the best books around the world, and in line with this, the M-People thought they would share their thoughts on their favourites of all time, and what they’re currently loving….

 

Cathy: Fav: The Sea The Sea by Iris Murdoch / At the mo: Mother can you hear me by Margaret Forster

Kat: Fav: A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry / At the mo: Spitalfields Life by The Gentle Author

Carole: Fav: The Agony and the Ecstasy by Irving Stone. Read it when I was a teenager and it blew me away. Looked at statues, sculptures and paintings in a completely new light after that. How boring am I?!

Esme: Fav: The Great Gatsby, F Scott Fitzgerald. / At the mo: “Talking to my daughter about the economy”, Yanis Varoufakis

Ollie: Fav: Amy Poehler: ‘Yes Please!’ / At the mo: I try to keep up with NME weekly; not a book, sure – but I enjoy it!

Tom: Fav: Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace / At the mo: Paul McCartney: The Biography by Philip Norman

Charlotte: Fave book:  His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman / Currently reading: ‘Thinking, fast and slow’ by Daniel Kahnemann

Jess: Favourite: Wild Swans, Jung Chang / At the mo: The Hobbit (to my six year old!)
