New region and new UK MD for Magenta

Magenta management team Shahlia Nelson-Rogers, Cathy Hayward, Jo Sutherland and Mark Parry

Simon IatrouMagenta is opening an office in North America to support its growing client base in the region.

The new centre will be run by our former content manager, Simon Iatrou, who becomes communications director, North America, based in Toronto.

At the same time, Jo Sutherland, who has been with us for four years, takes on the role of managing director of the successful UK business. Our founder and former MD Cathy Hayward becomes chairman of the wider Magenta group.

In her new role, Sutherland will run the UK business, based in Brighton and London, and develop the offer further into the architecture and design and corporate real estate markets where Magenta has a growing presence. Iatrou, who was previously editor of i-FM and FMJ magazine, will support Magenta’s existing clients in North America as well as grow the business significantly. Hayward, who set up Magenta in 2011 after a career as a journalist including launching and editing FM World (now Facilitate) magazine, will help to develop Magenta’s offering in both the US and Europe as well as supporting Magenta’s wider client base.

Sutherland will head up a management board in the UK which comprises Mark Parry, creative director, and Shahlia Nelson-Rogers, who is promoted into the client director role.

“Although we’ve been supporting clients around the world for many years, we’ve always done so from the UK, so I’m delighted to formally open our first office in North America,” said Hayward. “I’m also excited to work with Jo in her new role as MD in the UK and Simon in North America to further develop our services.”

“I joined Magenta as senior account manager in 2015,” said Sutherland. “Over the last four years I have enjoyed working with the team, our clients and the media to sharpen our approach to the marvellously multifaceted world of b2b communications. It’s been an exciting journey so far and I’m looking forward to the next chapter.”

“With the level of knowledge and skills we have in-house, I’m looking forward to working with the team to deliver great value, strong results and the best possible service to our clients,” said Nelson-Rogers.

“Working with the Magenta team for the past 18 months has been a hugely rewarding experience. Cathy and Jo have built a fantastic business here in the UK and I can’t wait to emulate that success in North America,” added Iatrou.
