Unprecedented Support by MPs to prevent another Carillion

Following the collapse of Carillion earlier this year, the Aldous Bill, the largest fair payments campaign ever formed in the UK, now has support from over 200 MPs.  In addition to the support of MPs, the bill has further support from over 80 industry bodies and trade associations, representing over 580,000 businesses and sole traders.

PwC tells new staff they can choose what hours to work

The Multinational professional services firm PwC is giving employees the opportunity to work for the firm without being tied to a full-time contract with standard working hours.

As a result of the increasing popularity in flexible working, PwC have allowed for staff to choose a working pattern that works best for them- whether that’s shorter hours or only working for a few months a year.

Employees will apply to PwC’s Flexible Talent Network based on skills possessed and the working pattern that works for them, as opposed to specific roles.  More than 2,000 people have registered for PwC’s Flexible Talent Network in the first two weeks, proving there is demand for flexible work options.

Coca-Cola Pledges to expand Costa in restaurant and leisure sectors after £3.9bn acquisition

The acquisition of the UK’s biggest coffee chain marks the first in the sector for Coca-Cola, who currently have no coffee product in their wide range of drinks offerings. Coca Cola are expected to focus on the ready to drink, cold brew coffees, which are part of a fast growing trend in the global drinks market.

BIG architects’ mirrored orb among installation highlights at Burning Man 2018

The Burning Man festival began earlier this week is well underway in the Nevada desert. The festival has not been short of unique artworks and installations. One of which, is BIG architects mirrored orb. The huge reflective sphere BIG’s Bjarke Ingels and Jackob Lange crowdfunded for this year’s Burning Man, is just one of the attractions that has drown visitors and admirers alike to the installation.
