Facilities Show 2019: Day 1

It’s the first day of the Facilities Show at London Excel and the Magenta team is already here. As specialists in the built environment, we tend to spend most of our time in the Facilities Management Theatre (though there is the exciting addition of a Workplace Wellbeing Theatre this year), so come and find us!

Here’s our pick of the seminars not to miss on day one.

Tuesday 18th June

Office moves & refurbs
11:00-11:45

Active Workspace Management’s Adrian Powell will join a panel featuring ITV’s director of workplace services & estates, Ian Jones, to discuss their best and worst office moves, the impact that Brexit could have on this service, and how the flexible working boom is changing everything.

Workplace of the future
11:55-12:40

Future-gazing will be on the agenda for the sessions straight after, as Gregory Blondeau, co-founder of workplace technology company Proxyclick, and Alistair Craig, managing director of FM service provider Anabas, sit down and wonder aloud what the future of work will look like.

Flexible working
14:10-14:55

Flexible working makes another appearance in the afternoon, which is perhaps a sign of its increasing relevance. A panel that includes Kelly Howell, HR director at Atalian Servest, and Kurt Mroncz, managing director of Offices iQ, will unpack the concept, explain why it’s all about cultural change, and debate whether it really can improve workplace productivity.

Brexit – what does it mean for FM?
15:45-16:30

Few people seem willing to talk about the single biggest political event in 50 years and the consequences for the facilities management sector. Sofie Hooper, senior policy advisor at the Institute of Workplace & Facilities Management, and David Sharp, managing director of International Workplace, will buck that trend by discussing what regulations will be affected, how it could impact costs, and whether it could do even more damage to the already fraught skills gap.

See you there!
